TIF for low income housing

I need to respond to all you folks on UU that think Ald. Shiller now owns low income housing on Magnolia or Clifton. NO SHE DOES NOT! The TIF money was requested by VOICE to use for its properties (owned by VOICE) on Magnolia and Clifton. For those of you who don't now VOICE a non-profit community based organization that has been in Uptown for over 40 years. These properties were rehabbed in the late 80's with a per unit cost of little or nothing.

The TIF funds will allow VOICE and its partners to do much needed upgrades to over 65 units of low income affordable housing to keep it that way for as long as HUD provides funds to the project based subsidy that these buildings have.

NO THIS IS NOT NEW CONSTRUCTION. I think the comments about VOICE not being aware of any drug or gang activity at any of its property is MISINFORMATION. We historically have evicted any residents that engage in this activity.
